A local experimental determination of hydrodynamics in a dynamic filtration unit under laminar flow

Rotating and Vibrating Filtration module (R.V.F. module), a dynamic filtration module, was designed and dedicated to treat highly viscous fluid, such as fermentation broth or liquid food. To this end, an experimental study in laminar flow regime with a viscous Newtonian model fluid in R.V.F. module was carried out in order to quantify the effect of local hydrodynamic on filtration.

In this study, we applied P.I.V. to study laminar local hydrodynamic at 3 different slices in a 3 mm gap between the membrane and the impeller and 3 vertical slices at different radial positions, with rotation speed from 0 up to 10 Hz. As a result...
