Airborne particulate matter pollution has posed serious threats to human health and the living environment. Although existing commercial filters exhibit excellent filtration performance, they are generally non-biodegradable, which gives rise to end-of-life disposal issues. Herein, a biodegradable lyocell fiber-based filter paper (LFP) was fabricated through a scalable wet-laid combined with freeze-drying strategy for air purification. The fabrication procedure involved wet-laid, emulsion coating, freeze-drying, and resin curing. Commercial reinforcing resins were employed as fiber binders to stabilize the internal structure and impart mechanical strength to the filter. The introduction of a functional water-repellent agent endowed the filter with durable hydrophobicity, thereby prolonging its service life. The obtained LFP exhibited excellent air cleaning performance, with a PM0.3 removal efficiency of...
